Die beiden 10Z-Klassen durften sich in den letzten Wochen im Englischunterricht im Rahmen eines Projekts intensiv mit dem Thema „Science and Technology“ auseinandersetzen.
Nachdem zunächst aufgrund des großen Interesses vor allem auf das Thema „Space“ eingegangen wurde und die Klassen sich durch aktuelle
Texte, Lieder und Videos zur ersten Mondlandung, aktuellen Weltraumprojekten und dem Weltraumtourismus informierten und einstimmten, konnten wir unser gemeinsames Projekt ansteuern: ein digitales Buch erstellen zum Thema „Science and Technology“. Die Aufgabe jedes Schülers und jeder Schülerin war es, sich zunächst ein Thema zu überlegen und dieses dann auf drei Buchseiten in unserer gemeinsamen digitalen Bibliothekkreativ zu präsentieren. Die einzelnen Schülerseiten wurden zum Schluss zu einem gemeinsamen Buch zusammengefügt. Innerhalb von drei Wochen entstanden so zwei umfangreiche Bücher, die zeigen, welches große Potenzial doch in unseren Schülerinnen und Schülern schlummert.
Nicht nur die Kreativität bei der Themenwahl und der Präsentation, sondern auch das große Engagement, das viele aus der Klasse entwickelten, war dabei eine sehr positive Überraschung. Es entstanden z.B. ein aufwändig selbst erstelltes Lernvideo über eine berühmte Erfinderin, ein Lern-Computer-Spiel, selbst aufgenommene Audioaufnahmen, die über Szenen aktueller sowie älterer Filme und Serien, den Mond, verschiedene Planeten oder Kometen informieren sowie ansprechende Buchseiten zu modernen Technologien mit interessanten Hintergrundinformationen, die das Buch zu einem echten Lese- und Hörvergnügen machen.
Auszüge aus dem Buch durften die Schülerinnen und Schüler am Tag der offenen Tür mit großem Erfolg präsentieren.
Als Abschluss der Unterrichtseinheit stand dann ein Kinobesuch auf dem Stundenplan. Bei (sehr viel!) Popcorn und Cola durfte Roland Emmerichs neuester Science-Fiction-Katastrophenfilm „Moonfall“ angesehen werden, natürlich in englischsprachiger Originalversion. Die anfänglichen Bedenken mancher Schülerinnen und Schüler diesbezüglich (Da versteh’ ich ja kein Wort! oder Ich kann doch kein Englisch!) stellten sich aber schließlich als völlig unbegründet heraus, wie die Nachbesprechung zeigte. Ihre Eindrücke und eigene Meinung konnten die beiden Klassen anschließend im Unterricht auch noch einmal schriftlich durch das Schreiben einer „film review“ ausdrücken. Hier ein paar Auszüge aus einigen Schülerarbeiten:
Despite the predictability of the plot the film has pretty good ideas about aliens and their connection to the moon and the earth. There is also not bad humour, good special effects and some scenes are excellent. However, not everything is as good as it could be. The film is full of inexplicable decisions of the characters and logical mistakes.

In my opinion the movie is a little cheesy with a nerd noone believes and who tries to save the world but the special effects make up for it. I like the ending because it’s something new, similar to other movies about the concept of a fake moon made by ancestors of humans. Justin and Shin, 10Z1

I personally think that the movie has a great story and exceptional CGI effects. The actors were mostly played well, but I noticed some small mistakes in acting and dialogue. Although I would recommend the movie to most people, I wouldn’t recommend it to hardcore space lovers.

My favourite scene was when K.C. Houseman (John Bradley-West) sacrificed himself for mankind. I recommend the film to everyone and would always watch it again.

I found the film nice because it contains an exciting and an emotional part. I found the plot very exciting because it was about the moon and I am very interested in space in general. All the actors performed well but I liked Jo (Halle Berry) best in the scene when she cried because it was so emotional.

I would recommend “Moonfall“ only to people who like science fiction and Roland Emmerich movies. The film was very interesting but at the end I was kind of stressed because of too much information.

The movie is about the moon falling down to earth. I liked the movie but it was a lot of fantasy in it. Some words were unfamiliar to me but I fully understood what the film was about and what they did to save the world.
